Imagine you bought a 50-peso cellphone credit in your local convenience store, but you only receive credit that is worth 35-peso. How would you feel? Deceived? Wronged? Or would you go to the convenience store and ask the owner for a refund?
Now, suppose you are a student and you enrolled for a 25 minute English lesson but a teacher keeps on ending the lesson before the 25 minute is up. What would you do? File a complaint against the teacher?
As customers we expect to get the full service that is equal to the amount we paid for. I am sure all students feel the same way too. This article will help us understand and learn different ways on how we can prevent situations where lessons end earlier than 25 minutes.
Here are some common reasons why the teacher ends the lesson early and how to avoid it.
· The student is smart, he/she answered all your questions
Instead of saying goodbye ahead of time you can review the lesson, prepare supplementary materials or ask review questions to make sure they understood the lesson.
· The student is not listening
Be creative. Use teaching aids, ask about the student’s interests and ask subtle questions about it. Use their interest as your leverage.
· Internet Connection Problem
You have to be prepared for situations like this hence it is imperative to invest on a back-up (wireless, hotspot, etc.)
So what will happen if a teacher ended the lesson early and received a “Leave Early Complaint?”
A Teaching Quality member will validate the complaint and contact you to discuss possible repercussions of this complaint. You wouldn’t want that so please be sure to start and finish the lesson on time.
Now that you are aware of the possibilities that could lead to a Leave Early complaint, let us not only be aware but make it a habit to make every minute count and use the 25 minutes effectively. Written by: Lorry Virgo
51talk is awesome :-)
I have been completing the 25 minute lessons I have completed successfully for 25 mins and sometimes more than 25 mins. I had "leave early"tags which I disputed. Could this be an AC issue?
If this email is in regards to a class I handled were I was marked "leave early" then it is not my fault. The student was supposed to be marked absent but she came in after 14 mins. We had the class for 10 mins when I had power interruption due to bad weather. Hence, there was a few more mins to spare. I tried my best to get back in class but the next class with the same student came in. I did not get a screenshot due to lack of time. Thank you.
